Micro jumps. Empty Micro jumps.

The micro-jump technique can be used by any sentient being regardless of skill level, race or department, the only requirement is that the ship being used has a hyperdrive. A micro-jump has two main functions:
1. To reduce travel time between planets of different systems.
2. As a military tactic. A Battle Group can rally at an adjacent system and move into the destination system in force.

Each System in the SWC Galaxy has a set of Galactic Coordinates in terms of X (horizontal / right and left) and Y (vertical / up and down). For reference, Galactic Coordinates (0,0) are located the center of the SWC Galaxy. The Tion Cluster is located in the Northeast quadrant so all System coordinates will be positive.

This tutorial will detail how to use the micro-jump technique to travel from Planet Embaril in the Embaril System, at Galactic Coordinates (349, 212), to Planet Gantari in the Dellalt System, at Galactic Coordinates (357,201).
The first step is to look at the Galaxy Map view of the destination System, Dellalt and find where Planet Gantari is in reference to the four sides of the Dellalt System. In the case of Gantari, it’s closest to the right hand side (east) of the Dellalt System, you know now that you want to enter the Dellalt System from the right side (east).

Enter the ships cockpit and click “Travel”. Click “Hyper”, then under “Select Sector”, choose the “Tion Cluster”. Under “Select Destination” select “Dellalt” *** DO NOT CLICK “GO” YET ***.
Alright, under “Select Destination” there are two numbers, the word “or” and the System “Dellalt”. The two numbers are the Galactic Coordinates in X (horizontal / right and left) and Y (vertical / up and down) of the Dellalt System (357,201). In order to enter from the right (east) of the Dellalt System, you will need to add +1 to the X coordinate, thus setting your destination to (358,201). Click “Go”. You have engaged your hyperdrive and are on your way.

The below pictorial view shows the Dellalt System with its surrounding deep space systems. Take note of the coordinates of the surrounding systems. This view can be applied to all systems – the coordinates will change of course but the mathematics remains consistent. For example, to enter from the Northeast corner of any system, you will always add +1 to the X coordinate and +1 to the Y coordinate.

You will arrive in system (deep space) to the right of Dellalt. Immediately hyper to Dellalt using the travel menu. Hyper travel time in a Bulk Freighter is 26 minutes. See the figure below.

When you arrive In the Dellalt System, you will be at East entrance (19,10). You are now only 1 hr 45 minutes from Planet Gantari. If you did not perform a micro-jump, you would have arrived at the west entrance of the Dellalt System which is about a 6 hr sublight ride to Planet Gantari.

What does all of this work do for you? If you are an active pilot, it will reduce sublight travel time by about 4 hours. It’s well worth the few minutes planning if arrival time is critical.

This was just an example of a micro-jump. You can use this technique to enter a system from any of the eight entrance points (the four corners and the north, south, east , west). Just simply use this tutorial as a reference, do the required math to the x,y coordinates based on your desired system entry point. For example, if you wanted to enter from the Northeast corner, add +1 to the x coordinate and a +1 to the y coordinate [(x+1, y+1)].

In summary, micro-jumps are a more efficient way to travel between planets of different systems. They are also used for Military maneuvers that require Fleet based movements into a system.
